A visit to Christchurch City Library inspired SMC students to investigate "How History Is Remembered and Shared". A photographic tour of Henry Nicholas statue, Nurses Memorial Chapel stain glass windows, a descendant of the Lone Pine at Gallipoli tree planted to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli landings, The Bridge of Remembrance and the Bandsmen Memorial Rotunda provided a richness of history and individual journeys for students to follow. This integrated unit involved Music, Dance and Drama mime of postcards received from soldiers. Students then learned to code their learning through Scratch tutorials, master classes and peer support.
