We are so pleased to restart our technology clubs during lunch and after school. Students have many opportunities to learn new skills and develop their passions through a number of clubs that operate at St Margaret's College. We are privileged to have staff and students who are keen to share their knowledge and wisdom with others.

This year we see the return of the "Gadget Girls" group who is led by Caitlin Wickham. Caitlin is guiding students through a series of workshops starting with robotics this term and moving through to learn to use the 3D printer and possibly the laser cutter. Gadget girls is a club to students who like to have a go at a variety of hands-on activities.

Our construction club which uses the EPRO8 kits continue to grow and develop the skills of our girls in engineering. They are currently building a marble run and are working collaboratively in teams. Testing and rethinking possibilities that they share with each other, help to achieve a favourable outcome.

Robotics has been a long standing club that operates after school on Tuesdays with an adult tutor and during school on Fridays at lunchtime with some student leaders. These groups enable students to build and test their understanding of coding using the EV3 Lego Mindstorm robotic kits. The process involved with robotics, builds skills in patience, problem solving and learning to deal with frustration.

Code club which operates on Thursdays after school involve girls beyond our St Margaret's College community. We are very grateful that these clubs are taught by passionate volunteers from our wider Christchurch community. Thanks to Bryn Lewis and Murray Kinsman who are our current tutors.

The Minecraft group is a large bunch of enthusiastic students and student leaders. This group are creating some amazing structures within the Minecraft platform. The students within this club have a wealth of knowledge and skill. Girls are supporting each other, problem solving tech issues and are collaborative creators.

Middle School Website group are editors of interest stories that particularly focus on our Middle School students. These girls are crafting articles and manage the website specifically for our middle school audience. The girls are ably supported by staff in the content that they create.

All of these clubs are supporting students to develop the essential skills of working with each other, problem solving and communicating clearly. They are able to showcase their talents and work at their own pace.
